Why I Still Follow the Same Launch Plan Every Time
Aug 02, 2026
Discover why Sarah Williams still follows the same plan for every subscription box launch and why Launch Your Box is built on what's working today, not what worked years ago.
People sometimes ask me why I still run my own subscription businesses when so much of my time is spent teaching other people how to build theirs.
It's a fair question with more than one answer. But one of the most important reasons is a simple one.
Launch Your Box isn't built on what I did ten years ago. It's built on what I'm still doing today.
I never want to teach my members something I haven't tested myself. Markets change. Customers change. Technology changes. What worked even a few years ago (or even a few months ago) isn't always what works today.
I launch to keep my subscription box business healthy and thriving. But also because I believe my members deserve advice that's grounded in what's happening right now, not what worked years ago.

Over the past few weeks, I've launched two very different subscription businesses.
Tees 4 Teachers, which I always call my “baby subscription” welcomed more than 300 new subscribers, more than doubling the size of that membership (not such a baby anymoređ). And right after that launch, my team and I launched the Framed StyleBox, which was also a success!
The audiences for those two subscriptions are different - teachers vs busy southern moms. Which meant the messaging was different. And of course the subscriptions themselves are different.
But one thing was exactly the same. And it’s always exactly the same.
I followed the same Launch Plan I've trusted for years. I even used the Launch Plan when I launched my book, One Box at a Time!

A Launch Plan Creates Freedom
When people hear the words "launch plan," they sometimes picture something rigid or overly structured.
For me, it's exactly the opposite.
A Launch Plan gives me the freedom to stay present.
Before either launch opened, I wasn't wondering what email needed to be written next or trying to remember whether I'd forgotten an important step. That work had already been done. I had a plan that guided everything that needed to happen before launch, during launch, and after launch.
That meant I could focus on what mattered most.
- I could pay attention.
- I could watch how people were responding.
- I could answer questions.
- I could see (in almost real time) which ads were working - and which weren’t - and make necessary adjustments.
- I could notice which stories resonated, which emails connected, and where people were getting stuck.
Those are the moments that make every launch better than the last.
A launch shouldn't require you to reinvent your business every time.
It should give you the space to actually listen to the people you're serving.
That reminder followed me outside of work this week, too.

I was helping my son, Jackson, move into his college house, and one of our projects was putting together a new desk. Let's just say we became very familiar with the assembly instructions after realizing - more than once - that we'd missed a step.
We laughed, took it apart, figured out where we'd gone wrong, and kept going.
We never questioned whether we needed a plan. We just needed to follow it a little more carefully.
Launching feels the same way sometimes.
Even when something doesn't go exactly as planned, I never feel like I'm starting over. I simply go back to the process, make adjustments, and keep moving forward.
Every Launch Makes Launch Your Box Better
Here's something I don't think people talk about enough.
Every launch teaches me something.
There's always an email that performs better than I expected. And there's always a question I wish I'd answered sooner.
I learn and adjust. Those small adjustments make the next launch even stronger.
But those lessons don't stay with me. They become part of what I teach.
Sometimes that means updating a training lesson or putting together a new one.
Other times it's simply being able to tell a member, "I tried this last week. Here's what happened."
That's something I could never do if I stopped launching my own businesses.
Every launch makes me a better coach.
And every lesson I learn makes Launch Your Box stronger.

Information Is Everywhere. Experience Isn't.
We live in an amazing time for entrepreneurs.
I use AI in my own business almost every day, and I think it's one of the most valuable tools available. You can find answers to almost any question in seconds.
But if information alone built successful subscription box businesses, every entrepreneur would have one.
The challenge usually isn't finding an answer. It's knowing which answer fits your business, your audience, and the season of business (and life) you're in.
That kind of judgment comes from experience.
Not experience from ten years ago. Experience from this month.
It comes from:
- Paying attention.
- Testing.
- Launching.
- And continuing to do the work.
Why This Matters
When you join Launch Your Box, you're getting more than a library of modules and lessons.
You're getting years of proven training, coaching, community, and the collective experience of thousands of entrepreneurs building subscription businesses.
But there's one thing I'm especially committed to.
I never want our members to wonder whether the strategies I'm teaching still work.
I want them to know they've been tested.
And every time I launch, I get another opportunity to learn something worth sharing.
That's the promise I've always wanted Launch Your Box to make.
Not that I'll teach you what worked once.
That I'll teach you what I'm still learning today.
